Weeeeeeeellllll, there were fake eggies. Right after I took this I looked in to see her handiwork and noticed a real one amongst the fakes.

They are sneaky aren't they? I ended up having to "mark" the fake eggs I used so that I'd have a clue when someone added one of their own (tiels, in my case).
