Nikola was hanging out on my shoulder during lunch, when I put him on his playstand he had a feather in his beak. I thought he was done with his molting, he doesn't have anymore pin feathers and his tail finished growing back a few weeks ago. From what I've read/seen of plucking this doesn't seem like it, the feather was intact, no blood. I know finding the occasional fluff/down feathers is normal, but this isn't that kind of feather.

The only recent big change I can think of in our routine is more regular bathing. I got him a shower perch and he's suddenly decided bathes are amazing. He begs to go with me when I get ready for a shower. I've been letting him shower with me every other day, is that too often?

I attached a picture of the feather, just wondering if this is normal or should be cause for concern. Thank you in advance!

I get odd stragler feathers between moults but my birds are lovebirds.
In the picture, the feather doesn´t look plucked.
-Sorry, I don´t know how helpful that is for you :(

I think it's normal for them to periodically lose a random feather without going through a big molt.

It looks like a stray feather Nikola lost...happens sometimes.

Milton bathes about that often with us...hasn't hurt him any...he'd live in the shower if we let him. ;)

I've read that typically a plucked feather will look chewed, which that one doesn't. Definitely a watch and see situation but I know I panic myself when anything is different with my birds and with my cat.

My 5 month old has oodles of pins and I noticed lots of downies and a few reg feathers lost, on her head. A molt may not loose them all and they will shed some between molts as well. She isn't in a true molt yet.
