Hi Carole,
Check your nitrates in your main tank. Sounds like he gets constipation every time he eats. Try this, place him in the main tank and don't feed any of your fish for a day and see if he floats.
Feed ALL your fish shelled green peas at night as a treat, all they can eat. Stringy white poo can be a sign of a bacterial infection. I would feed all your fish Medi-Gold for 10 days.
Changing food will not help your oranda. I would treat for flukes with Prazi.
