So here is baby Ruth! She is a cinnamon green pied baby, all of her feathers have come in except for a few pins on the head. She's starting to wean about now, trying some fruits, veggies and pellets. She has flown a couple of times, not necessarily the best flight

Also a few questions for those with kaks.

• There favorite treats for yours? (Nut, fruit, and veggie)
• Favorite toys, especially foot toys?
• Any special things they like in their cage?

Thank You both!

She scares me sometimes. She's in an aquarium to keep her warm until the last few feathers come in. Sometimes she'll jump straight to the top then flutter/fall over to me for more food.

Awwwwwww adorable!!! Unfortunately i have no idea on the species, Hope you find some answers soon. But looks like peanuts and apples might be a nice try. And all birds love sunflower seed! Just watch out, it is very fatty.

She is a little Red crown Kakariki. I have seen flocks of them in the forests around home. They are a beautiful little bird, and their natural diet is seeds and berries. So I suppose the likes of Canary seed would be good. A few treats like raspberries etc my be good too. A friend of mine years ago bred them and came across yellow mutations. I am not sure if you get the mutations overseas. As they are a native bird here in NZ you need a permit to keep them which so far I have not got...maybe one day, it is a species I like...

How is your Ruth doing?? I have a new Kak and am learning a lot about her likes/dislikes. I will say, her favorite in-cage toy is a rope mat covered in various hanging toys...mostly shreddable. You can see it behind her in this pic (she is soaking wet from a bath, so disregard the drowned rat look!)
