I saw them mentioned on a tv show (maybe Nip/Tuck?) a few years ago but didn't know they were real! The owner on the show told the doctors they wanted it done because altered dogs couldn't compete in dog shows (?).

That's just silly, IMO, but if people want to pay for that then that's their choice.

I'd be afraid that they could hurt the dog.
With the growing evidence that silicone breasts implants can cause issues for women.... infections and the like...
This could do the same in the dog.

Yes I saw that episode, I think it was an english bulldog that was quite proud of his "assets" but was a bit too friendly.
So, when he went in to get neutered they gave him the implants so he could still feel proud, and strut his stuff so to say.

I have worked in numerous vet clinics and in every one we carried these. My vet even had a keychain made out of them for each of us who do the neuters lol. That being said I only had to put these in once and it’s a man thing lol. The pups Dad said it’d be cruel to neuter to his dog and the wife convinced him it was healthiest so this was their compromise.

Most show dogs are not neutered because they put them up for stud & make $$$ if they are champions.
Not sure if neutered dogs are disqualified but I suppose if the standard for the breed is to have them then they can lose points for not...
