This is pics from a bicycle ride 2 weeks ago.

Not so far from Tomelilla. @Cassiopejaz
I only stop because I found this old sign so charming.

And this is pics from Sunday. After my competition I decided to go for a walk in the forest.

When I walked I was followed by a very upset bird. (in the middle of this pic)
I did find it strange and after a while I began to look around if I could find the reason.

And I did. The baby was very well camouflage and was sitting 100% still.
I guess it had fallen off the nest.

Didn't want to disturbed it so I continue walking.

I walked the same way back 30 minutes later, (and again was followed by his angry parent) and yes, still their.

I think it's a Woodpecker, but I'm not 100% sure.
I do hope the baby would manage. It will be feed for sure and was not abandoned.

That trip was 58 km. I try to go for at least 40 km as a minimum each ride.

I had to convert to miles. Wow...that's a long ride. How long does that take you?

It really depends on the wind and if I'm lazy or not. But I try to go with a speed 30-40 km/H.
So on a good day it will take 2 Hrs. And we are not talking about the bad days..

Don't you have natural predators in the forests? That baby bird wouldn't last 15 min. in the forests around here - way too many different predators.

No bigger predators in that area. (that area is very near the city and their is always a lot of people their)
The only concern will be an owl at night.
And I couldn't helped it anyway. We are not allowed to take care of wild animals. The only thing we can do is to place it back in the nest, but first it was to high up, and I didn't see it either.
And the information we get is if you see a baby and his parent, leave it alone.

That's great. I haven't ridden my bicycle for many years and I wouldn't ride locally. Driving in LA traffic is not safe, IMO.
