Names for my NEW canary!!!!

I have been thinking about getting a canary for a very long time and have every thing I need... except for a name. i'm starting to panic because i'm getting him on Friday!

Names I have but cant pick one (if you have any other ideas please tell me)
1. Asher, Ash
2. scout
3. Phil
4. Oliver, Olly

I like all of those names, but I usually wait a bit & let a name come to me or see which one suits them best after I get to know them. (But truth be told that doesn't stop me from making a list of a zillon names in the mean time!) I wouldn't beat yourself up about it, but I totally understand the excitement.

I agree, let them choose the name! That is how my conure was named Grumbles

And when you bring your canary home be sure to post pictures for us! Canaries are adorable. My grandma has one named Charlie.

I am the same @faislaq ! I named Pippin and Myn quite Naturally, the first time Myn looked at me and ran around I knew he would be named Myn, he totally fits the personality of the dragon Myn(from the book The book of Deacon) and I loved that name already. Same with Pippin.
I couldn’t name Henkie myself but with Fëanor I Made a long list of names with meanings, he was nameless for a week. I was torn between Zephyrus and Fëanor, I went with Fëanor because that fits his personality best, it means the fiery one and oh well fiery he certainly is!

Naming a new friend is always a difficult thing!

When a newbie needing a name comes to live with us, I take him/her into a room, away from the hustle and bustle, and just sit with him/her for awhile. Their name will come to me...they will let me know what it is...

You could do something silly like taking the word tiny and making a name out of it such as Nitty.

Click on your user name at the top of any page & select signature. I just used emojis, but some people upload pictures (there are threads in the How To section for that).

I too wait until I see them. My canaries are Robin, Mama, Eve, and the other male is yet unnamed.

You couldl also start a series. My Gouldians all have music names, and my zebra finches all were gangsters.

A music name for a canary would make sense.... here are some
Jazz
Blues
Rhythm
Harmony
Mosso
Daphnis (here up are all some of my birds)
Allegro
an instrument name, like Mandolin or Banjo
Caprice (I used this for a hen, but it would work)

Is that canary finger trained, if so was it hard to tame?

No, he is not. He is trained to go back to his cage if you say "go back Charlie" though, so I don't think it would be very difficult.
