What do you guys prefer; hawkhead or redfan?

I myself like the name/term redfan. Seems to fit a whole lot better.

The hawkheaded parrot doesn't much look like a hawk to me. :p
In fact, to me, the most raptor looking parrot I've seen so far is the Dusky pionus. Has the beak color down too. Maybe that's just me, though.

I had never heard Redfan before so Hawkhead just sounds more familiar to me.

I've heard them called both. :3

Their crest looks like a red fan. So. Haha.

I like hawkheaded, but mainly because thats what Im used to. Their silhouette can look very raptor-like, aside from the hookbill ;)

Don't pretty much all parrots look fairly raptor-like in silhouette, if you discount their hookbill? :I

And the hawkhead was named so for the brownish face and white streaks right?
Because raptors have brownish feathers?
Hm. The dusky has streak feathers too and so do lorikeets. o-o

I guess, I just don't get it. :p

I'm going to go with Hawkhead. Someone reminded me today that they look very much like Harpy eagles, who also raise a "fan" when alarmed.

I like Hawkheaded also. It is what I have always heard and known. Since I was a little girl. This was the first place I ever heard the term "red fan".
BTW, ever since seeing one in a book as a child, I have always wanted one. I love raptors too.

Like the rest, I like Hawkhead. Although I don't hear the word on a daily basis, for instance cockatiel or conure, but i only call it HH. But truthfully I never knew of a HH since I found this website back in June. I made a account later in July.
