Well as the saying goes, "when it rains, it pours" and in my case since June it's been like a hurricane!:float:

I am going in deep with Vet bills here between Jenny passing away, then the Zons going in for their wellness check, the Adoption fee for Sophie, a Vet visit 2 weeks ago all 3 dogs and today a dental AND another dog scheduled for her dental in late Sept. Ugh.............:sos:

I had a lump on his jaw checked by another Hospital. Looked him over, wasn't sure and suggested a dental and I already knew he needed one. Last one was 4 years ago before we adopted him from the rescue.
Fast foward to the other Vet (I am never going back since my Friend left there too) Yes, low estimate $800 to $1200 for a dental! :faint: Yeah well, called my Mobile vet and her dentals are her office start at $225 much better. So today we went, we had xrays.

Teeth are all clean, but the lump in the jawbone is believed to be a cyst. She consulted a canine dentist and he also thought so. But he needs to have this removed. If not, it will keep filling up and eventually break his jaw.

So tomorrow I will schedule our consult with the Doggie dentist. I don't care about the money, tapped into retirement I did and it's something we can't take with us so my pets make me happy and well we have to fix this issue. Oh best part, yes paying myself back with interest.:rolleyes:

Prayers for me beautiful Cappy please! He is my heart dog, my most prized pup and he's the sweetest little guy.

Thank you! :thankyou:

This Hospital was purchased by a Corporation that has many locations. This was privately owned, sold by the Vets and then as we know transitions take over and the changes happen. My Friend recently left, not sure if it was her choice or not. Unreasonable fees! The day I was there, an xray should have been suggested- could have been done. So a visit get you $58 for an exam that consisted of looking, talking, thinking of the maybes and what we can do during the dental and then a ridiculous estimate.

Thats when I called Dr. Marty she's great- and we got him in today. Now we head to a specialist very soon.

Thank you! I know, crazy that they feel they can capitalize on being a larger Corp and the trendy yuppie town in which we live. Things are surely changing the small town charm is being removed and the over building is surely happening. The growth I've seen in 12 year here is less than desirable!

I feel your pain........in July my eldest dog dislocated his hip and they reset it and it just popped out again, so back to the vet for a hip surgery. Then my other dog got an ear infection and while she was being seen for that they noticed her teeth, so then she got an oral with complete teeth extraction. (she is 13). So the month of July was $$$$$$$$. Everybody is finally healthy and settled down now, but DAMN..........that was expensive. Good luck with all your appointments. It seems to run in spurts, doesn't it? Never just one at a time so you can afford it.

Sorry for the long delay here responding. @nu2birds Yes very costly to have surgery for our dogs. We have gone for the consult and the Vet feels that this is just a cyst but tissue will be sent out. This Office has 5 star review after review. They are highly commended in their care. The distance stinks, 39 miles away but the morning traffic OMG. The surgery will not leave his face disfigured that was my ultimate worry! But he may lose a lower canine. That sucks too.

Well surgery is next week on the 12th. I will update again and ask for prayers for my sweet boy. :)

We are re-booked for Oct 2nd for this. I am nervous and questioning if I really need to subject him to this. I know the Vet who did his dental said as the pocket fills it can eventually break the jaw. I am tossed up on this one- he's 10 or 11 now. I know it has to be done. We just had Bella's teeth cleaned this past week and let me tell you nervous I was! She will be with us 12 yrs next month. She is over 12 closer to 13 but fared well, breath is clean smelling and my poor Boo had 3 teeth extracted. Very costly on top of the dental but she's healing just fine and thanks to pain meds and antibiotics. We have one more due for a dental and she's even older!

I will sincerely appreciate prayers come Tuesday for my Cappy.

Okay, I am not taking him tomorrow. I am simply not comfortable with this at all.

I need a 2nd opinion and I am going to see about going to NC State for this. He's a graduate from there as was the Vet who did the dental.

I am not satisfied with this at all. I have always done my own research and need to look into a specialty like the Vet school.

I empathize with you.
Caleb had a dental cleaning and an extraction done last year and although he was only 5 years old then I was extremely nervous due to his cardiac issues. His regular vet checked with his cardiologist and they reviewed the anesthesia protocol for him. I trust his regular vet and cardiologist but I still was totally stressed out and when I was called about 2 1/2 hrs after I dropped him off my stress level went through the roof until the tech told me that the procedure was completed and he was OK. Best to go with your gut and get a 2nd opinion.
