The vet probably means Lupron shots. It can help (tho it only works for a month or so and birds usually become immune to it eventually). But it's not something to be used when she's already laying - maybe after she has laid if she is still showing signs of being hormonal.
Lupron actually works by increasing hormone production - basically overloading their body so they stop producing it themselves for awhile.
