Today my baby bird died. He was only 4 months old and I’d only had him for 3 weeks.
This is how it happened.
I got home from work at about 1pm and was exhausted after staying up late the previous night doing some assignments and then having to get up and be at work by 6am. I wanted to have a nap but my boy Zephyr was excited to see me and wanted to come out to play. So I got him out and played with him and cuddled him for an hour or so on my bed while watching some Netflix.
But I fell asleep. And when I woke up I found him tangled in the blanket next to me and dead. It seems like he got tangled in the blanket and suffocated.
I killed him because I didn’t realise I was falling asleep and I didn’t put him back in his cage.
I am so heartbroken and have been crying my eyes out for the last 4 or 5 hours. I may have only had him 3 weeks but I loved that little bird with all my heart and I will never forgive myself for being the cause of his death.
