Murphy is a gorgeous birdy!!! Can't wait to see his adult colors!

His tail looks fine, though!

I wish he would eat and or drink something. Its been over 24 hours now. Worried mom here.
Is he covered at all? Maybe try covering three sides of his cage for a while to give him some added security and play some music for him. Have you tried millet spray?

Might need to move his food dishes closer to where he is, or perhaps hanging some millet by his preferred perch.

IMO, it's normal for birds to not eat within the first 24-48 hours, because they are afraid. Once they start feeling more comfortable, they'll start eating and drinking. I have one bird that I've never seen her drink, but I know she does it, when I'm not around! And she's been with me for a couple of years now! Well, going on 3 this year.

I turned on YouTube budgie sounds and Murphy started talking back to them and then jumped into the seed bowl and began eating and moving about the cage. Wow, that was some great response! I put a little stem of broccoli in the cage just for him to see. He has never eaten anything green.

He's beautiful! I've always thought budgies are the most beautiful parrots. I had a dream once, where I went to the most amazing bird store, and found huge, macaw-sized budgies...
That would be really adorable! They would definitely win all of the bird shows :)

Guess I should stop bragging about him or I will bore all of you. I took him out of the cage about 4 pm and invited 2 friends that love birds to come see him. Murphy could not have been a better bird. He steps up, loves to shoulder sit and is just so well behaved. He seems to really like people. My 90 year old neighbor especially loves Murphy. I took a photo of him with her. With her permission I am posting it.
