Murphy, English Budgie

Day 1 today. He is 9 weeks old in this photo. Of course quite in the "where the heck am I" mode right now. He is trained to drink from a bottle because the breeder feels serving water in a bowl leads to bacterial growth. He does not know how often I change the water though so I may just keep both a bowl and bottle of water in the cage and see which one he prefers. I have 8 days of a probiotic which is put in his water for any "stress diarrhea" that may develop. Breeder gave me 2 big bags of the organic seed blend he makes and it has very healthy ingredients. I don't want to stress him out with serving veggies right away but they are at the ready. I was directed to this breeders training video on YouTube but I think there are better ways.
If anyone wants to see it I can post. So I am sure he is tired now from the days events and long drive.

He is adorable. Bella was trained with a bottle. So I've kept the bottle and added a water dish. She will drink out of both. I like having both because I know she will have fresh water when I am in work and she decides to use her water bowl as a bathing dish.

I thought he might take a dip. I don't know what that darker area on his tail is. Hopefully he will molt that area back into his violet color. Can't wait to start training. So far he is not afraid of my hands.

Murphy sat in one place overnight. I have not seen him take in any water or food yet. Hopefully he will at some point do that today. I have been talking and singing to him. Glad he is the only one who hears me!
