We are moving into a new home next week (Hooray!). However I don't know how long I should wait before I move the bird in. I plan on letting the place air out and run the appliances to hopefully get rid of any harmful chemicals in the air but I don't know how long we should wait before moving her in. I want to be as cautious as I can but I also don't want to be apart from her more than I have to. Any advice? :wbc:

@JLcribber

I'm tagging him. I'm contemplating a remodel of my kitchen and wondered the same thing.

Definitely run the stove and oven and air out house before the feathered kid moves in.

Well it's just my opinion but if it's safe enough for you to move in (which it darn well better be) then it's safe enough for the birds to move in too.

Everything is brand new and I've heard that new carpet and paint odors can be dangerous. So I just wanted to be sure I didn't bring her in until I thought it was safe

Our house wasn't new but subfloor, carpet, windows, paint, etc was all new. Lurch was fine but house had been done a while. I tend to agree as long as nothing smells bad or like chemicals I think everything will be fine. Most paint these days is latex based so shouldn't have anything super bad in it and if you do have the time like your doing you can air every thing out.
