... Bad news for Vann is he has stopped eating.
I set up a second qt tank, went to get him out, and he had already stopped breathing....
Thank you all. GP that would be great. I am presently treating Vann with Metronidazole, and waiting on some Nitrofurazone to arrive tomorrow....
So Vann is still hanging in there?! I thought from your first quote he had also passed but you apparently were referring to your other fish. I'm relieved Vann is still here.

Yes, Vann is still with us. But it's not looking good. A lot of necrosis to the face, and now he has stopped eating, which was I feel his saving grace until now.... :sad1:

Thank you Gerard. Sometimes experience doesn't even help them.

I'm sorry about all this but at least it seems you have a culprit and now can make a plan. I truly hope you don't lost any other fish in this process; especially Vann, he has fought long and hard and so have you.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes. This sux big time...

Sorry about the confusion. It's been a rough couple months. Fu Man Chu was the one that died suddenly. Vann is still in qt and being treated for the hexamita and subsequent bacterial infection{hole in the wen}
I still have Moby the blue oranda, Lovey the white one with the heart, and Charlie the lavender ranchu. These three, and the little catfish all have to be treated.

Many prayers on the way for you and your fish, fish are very graceful and beautiful creatures, and can sometimes be funny and are willing to please people. May you be ok and all the others will be ok too. :sad13:

So sorry Carole. It's heart breaking to lose those fish. They're so unique and such a pleasure to watch in every way. It's tough to have to break down systems, set up quarantines and start over. Fish love is a whole 'nother love!!!! Sending positive vibes your way... :fish1:

I have fish tanks all over the place! My dining room looks like a fish store. :x3: All of my fish are out and being treated. With exception to my inverts and my hillstream loach, some stones, and leftover live plants, they are in a separate system. I am not sure what to do with them, but obviously I cannot treat them. I am just terrified to go through all this and put them back and risk reintroducing the parasites, which could be hiding on anything. Vann seems a little perkier and his face looks a tad better today.
Thanks everyone.

Seems that even the fancies do best in outdoor ponds but gee… you can't watch them! I'd have to go back a page but I think I remember you don't keep gravel in your tanks, which, sure makes it easier to clean. I once had an oranda suck up a piece of gravel and it lodged in it's mouth. I was freaking out about it wondering how the heck I'd get it out and summoned the hubby. We caught the fish and he took a soft end of a q-tip ( minus the cotton) and went through the gill and pushed the gravel out of the mouth. I was a nervous wreck!!!! It worked well… phew! I really did enjoy them and Van is a beauty.. sure hope he pulls through. What kind of snails are those? The shell is pretty.
