He looks terrible Matt. The wen is gone all the way to the skull. He had his second injection yesterday, tomorrow is the third.If you want to see the pics I can send them in an e-mail or a PM. I think they are too graphic to post.
Thank you
I never had good luck with my fancy goldfish. Seven to eight months with the orandas at the most. It was so heart breaking I gave up and switched over to parrot fish. After eight years keeping fish I finally sold my tanks. I really enjoyed watching my fish… better than tv any day!
Lost a different fish yesterday. He was fine, then yesterday morning when I turned on the lights, instead of coming to eat he went into the corner. I found someone I have been talking to who suggested I am dealing with the parasite hexamita. And in Vann's case, a secondary bacterial infection. Bad news for Vann is he has stopped eating.
I set up a second qt tank, went to get him out, and he had already stopped breathing.
I have lots to think about, my whole set up may need to be nuked and changed.
I am so sorry Fu Man Chu
Thank you all. GP that would be great. I am presently treating Vann with Metronidazole, and waiting on some Nitrofurazone to arrive tomorrow. I will be pulling the remaining goldfish out to QT and treat them also. The little fish and inverts,the substrate, plants, even the media I have used has to be removed.
It was suggested that I use Pool shock, or bleach to nuke the tank.{she doesn't understand birds}
Obviously I cannot use either of those, so I am thinking a high concentrate of salt and high heat in the empty tank will be my best bet to eradicate any possibility of a parasite. I have ordered some Poret foam from Swiss Tropicals. It is made in Germany. That will be my new place for my good bacteria to grow. The tank will have to be nuked, rinsed a bunch of times, reset, and re-cycled.
I have to find a home for my little fish and inverts that can treat them. They won't be going back in this tank.
It has been very exasperating....
Oh, I misunderstood and thought Van passed. Sorry to hear that it has spread to your other fish. Hopefully you can get everything cleaned up in time to save the remaining fish.
