LOl theres no luck involved. When Soentjie arrived she was also wild. She has tamed down a lot BUT I DID NOT SET OUT TO TAME HER.

I simply let her settle into the flock routine. And the flock routine is to love papa to bits. ALL THE TIME. It is simply a question of conditioning. Loving Papa brings loads of fun and toys and rewards. Sitting alone is boring.

Then I have Thumper. If the pair bond forms correctly then she will be attached to him 24/7. And he will be attached to ME, every single time he is allowed out of his cage lol. Is she going to sit alone up in the rafters while her mate is down on my shoulder scoffing walnuts and cooing happily?

Also when you have a gang of caiques you do not need every single bird to be a snugglebug. Let her teach the others what its like to be a real wild bird, and they can teach her how to manipulate the humans.

I love it also - it makes it even better that it's based on a real story. I've never been able to look at boots in quite the same way since.
