Meet Bailey

Bailey is my new baby! We just brought her home yesterday. She's very sweet, pretty quiet so I'm guessing is a female but I guess from what I read that when she molts and looses most of her pearl she might be a male!! I love the pearl so hope she's a female. Female: Pearl Bailey or Male: Beetle Bailey. We kept her in her travel cage for the night thinking she might feel more secure and have her larger cage ready and waiting.

She's adorable, Congratulations! One of my tiels, Cappuccino, is a pearl also. At 10 months old he still hasn't molted yet, and he's not giving many hints behavior wise as to his gender. We are actually kind of hoping for a male, since I already have two girls and only one boy, but those girls tiels are so sweet!

I do wonder at what age to put her into her larger cage which is 20 x 24 x 29 high? She's still in her travel cage which does seem large enough for now.

I would put her in there now, but maybe put a towel in the bottom, keep the perches low, and make everything very accessible to her for now. Baby cockatiels are very clumsy. Also you can cover three sides to make her feel secure.

Bailey is coming along quite nicely. I haven't forced myself on her to let her get settled in but today I took her out for a few minutes and she chirped and stepped on my hand for me to put her back in her cage.
