Video Measuring, Banding and Checking the Big Bear Babies

This video shows "Jim" catching and transporting the babies to the Earth, where they have blood sample taken, checked over and weighed. Then he gently puts them back in their nest. It didn't show Mom and Dad but I'll bet they were having heart attacks. Jim was so gentle with the chicks. It was obvious that one chick was older or in better condition than the other.

They're so cute!! I love how they were so ready to fight him, lol. So fierce.

I'm surprised he didn't get an angry eagle parent to the head!

Yes, it is the Big Lake, CA nest. When you look at the two chicks, the one looks younger/less advanced and that is Cookie who died during the storms. He/she died of hypothermia. Mom couldn't keep them both arm and she wasn't doing too well herself. Mother nature can be a mean btch.
