One for Bobbie (Amazon)...

and one for Kobe (Pionus)...

Bobbie has got some thicker pine slices in there as she is a big chewer. Kobe has slices of balsa wood as well as thin slices of pine. They all seem to love my small "door toys".

Yay!!! Toy making day!!
I love putting things together for my birds and the funny thing is that all of them seem to prefer the toys I string together more than most of the ones I have purchased for them.

Yours look like there is a bit of every sort of texture on them which is always a winner in my home! I hope your birds love them and if not I will give you my address and you can send them to me for my boys ;) lol.

Thanks everyone!

:lolsign: Shezbug - they do seem to much prefer home made toys than average shop bought ones! If the birds they are for don't hurry up and make a start on them, Ollie does the rounds and starts the demolition process! His big beak especially loves Kobe's balsa wood. :sour:

Toy making is certainly a lot of fun, Sarah - I love zoning out creatively. Wish they didn't take so long to make though - those two took an hour!! :wideyed:

Yeah they can definitely be time consuming! It definitely makes me appreciate the vendors here that do make their on own toys. I cant imagine making toys on that scale!

Yes, it too makes me appreciate the vendors here that make the most beautiful toys. I know a fantastic vendor here in the UK - she says her hands are raw from all the toy making. I can understand that - trying to spread paper rope ends is the worst!

I've kind of got "Bird Toy Block," no inspiration right now! I definitely want to get some of that leather string soon.

I've got double jointed thumbs and they get really sore from all the knotting!

Thanks, BudgieQuaker!

Leih, I think it is easier if you have lots of toy parts around you. I do like the leather strips... always a good basic to have! :D Sorry about your thumbs. Pliers can help with knotting.

Oh I have lots of parts! They're in wall organizer though so maybe I should just get a bunch of stuff out and see what happens.
