Animal Clinic Northview in North Ridgeville, OH (Northern Ohio) Website

Northview is a fantastic vet clinic all-around, with an attractive, modern, pristine building, and many qualified vets. Today was my first visit, but I have heard good things about Dr. Lindstrom, their avian vet, previously. Today was our sun conure's baby checkup, and upon entering the building, I was impressed. We endured a short wait time, while Simba was screaming occasionally in his carrier (he had no idea what was going on) and scaring the dog patients :lol:After filling out some forms, we were escorted to an exam room, where Simba proceeded to pace and freak out. Dr. Lindstrom came in promptly, introduced himself, confirmed that he was seeing a baby sun conure, asked a few questions, and explained what was going to happen. Everything that he did was explained, he was in no hurry or rush, and was very gentle with Simba. Even though Dr. Lindstrom swabbed his throat, Simba still wanted a cuddle from him  which just screams "good vet/bird person" because Simba doesn't like just anyone, especially people who swab his throat :p He did a gram stain, explained how good Simba's results were, and he said he was very pleased with Simba thus far.

I highly recommend this vet. He explains everything that's going on, what this means for your bird, and he gives it to you straight. He also provided some great knowledge (and would be great for a first-time bird owner as he provided me with packets upon packets :p). If you live anywhere near this vet, I would definitely go to him. He's going to be my go-to vet :hehe:

I forgot to mention, he's been practicing for 30+ years, and I think he'd be a good vet in any situation. I'd trust him with my birds, because I know he'll tell me what's going on. It's great knowing you have a vet that you can trust, it brings the weight off of your shoulders :D

Honestly, I think Simba liked Dr. Lindstrom, which is completely awesome! He didn't fly to me, which is what I was worried about (if Simba is nervous he'll fly to me), even after the doc put him in a towel. In fact, Simba flew to him for a cuddle  Dr. Lindstrom genuinely loves the birds, and the birds know that too! :)

I've heard good things about Dr. Lindstrom, and they have been justified :D Cecilia, I'm glad you've heard about him...even if you live 45 minutes away

We have seen him one time when he filled in for our regular avian vet. He was great with Breeze.

I totally get it. I've read articles of birds who hate vets because of the toweling, oral swabbing, and such. But not with Simba and Dr. Lindstrom. No, in fact, Simba seemed to ENJOY the towel :hehe: But maybe my bird's just weird.

Yeah, he knows birds- explaining their dietary needs (when he first started practice ALL birds were on seeds ), and how everything's changed for the better (when he started we were still catching birds wild, and there were loads of parasites from Africa and such ). He's seen everything change from the beginning of the pet bird industry to now- so I'd say he's pretty knowledgeable, maybe even more so compared to canine and feline vets. Because they haven't seen the beginning of their industry and how everything's progressed.

In the same sense, he's very advanced on behavior, and maybe that's because of all his years in practice, and seeing all of the research first-hand. But in all respects, he's not only knowledgeable and able to explain everything that he's doing and how it relates to the past, he's also great with the birds! He always has a smile and I can only say nice things about him :D
