I found her on cl and picked her up last night on my way home from work as a buddy for my little Sky, who lost his best friend a few weeks ago. Her cage is so small. Why would anyone keep a flighted animal in something like this?
She smells like cigarette smoke. The owner said she is 4-5 mos. old, but she looks younger? Could she still have some growing to do? Poor little thing is TINY and definitely smaller than my American budgie that passed away, Pip. I am pretty sure she came from a breeder of parakeets in town who is selling them with these awful tiny cages.
I dont know that I"ll keep Petunia as a name, but I'm trying it out.
I'm trying to get her into a bigger 30x18" cage to quarantine her, but the door on her current cage is so darn small, I'm having trouble getting her through it. I set the cages up side by side with a big millet in the bigger one. Hopefully, when I come home tonight she'll have moved in. She loved her millet last night.
Contemplating moving into the bigger cage:
