Yesterday, Little Bird died. He was perhaps 27, maybe a lot older.
He was found in someone's yard, and brought to our friend and bird lady's shop.
Karen told us about him, and I wanted him immediately! A Lilac Crowned Amazon! The
most beautiful I had ever seen! I couldn't get over the burgundy band on his forehead, the lilac, lavender head and eyelids! He wore eyeshadow!

Little Bird was very shy and sweet, thus his name. He was so gentle, never biting, and
over time he became very friendly and picked up every word that Keikoa said, every song
and tune she whistled, and a few songs of his own. I missed that this morning. When I would
make them muesli with pumpkin (for Vitamin A) with cashews and fruit, he would chirrup
from the bird room to make me hurry up!

Little Bird did not leave the bird room after he accidentally flew away from the patio and I spent
4 days talking him down...a few years ago. His story is on the internet (Little Bird's Story).
He never seemed to mind, we let him mostly go fully-flighted, and the room was his most of the time.

We have perches all over the room, on top of the 5 cages, and they can go wherever they want
during the day.

Well, Little Bird seemed quiet and not eating well about 3 weeks ago. Our vet did a blood test and he was anemic, and we gave Little Bird anti-biotics and any foods he loved, especially juice.
He loved Naked juice.

But yesterday he seemed congested, and I tried to keep him warm and offer foods he likes, but he
stayed away from me, and then last night, he died. We buried him under a young Ash tree.
I missed his song this morning, and he was the first one out of his cage each day. Now his cage is empty.
I will have to change my siggy. :depressed:
I will have to get used to 2 Amazons instead of 3.
Keikoa is special, our funny baby, and Friday is funny but not affectionate. Little Bird made a perfect trio.

We miss you, Little Bird!!

Big hugs to you and the whole flock.
Amazons are very very special. Even the "shy sweet" ones have a huge presence.
Fly high Little Bird.

Another wonderful one of God’s creations... and a very special one as well! I’m sure LB has a special place in heaven with all of the lucky ones from AA who share it with him. God Bless you and your fids as the sadness is reserved for those who will surely miss him! :sorrow::sorrow:
