I was wondering if anyone can recommend some good literature for parrots for health and wellness type of information? I have been looking and I am not sure if the books i have run across are going in the right direction or not.

There is so much good info on here.. healthy foods, safety, etc.. hopefully someone can post the links... I remember buying books years ago and I threw them away cause many talked about "establishing dominance over your parrot" - just one outdated example.. but on here I've learned about no teflon, or febreeze, or any air fresheners and there's also tons of recipes for healthy eating.

And you may already know of this site but it's www.Parrot Enrichment.com with links to activities and nutrition.

Yeah dominance over you bird lol that's a joke. More like the bird dominates you lol I'm looking more for health stuff like for illness and stuff for reference.

Sad part is at 10 years old the information is still pretty accurate. My clinical avian medicine book is still my bible, My large macaw book too.

The medical books SHOULD be outdated

Even when you look at the list of medications, our "new" medications are in the old books. F10 is even listed in the clinical medicine book.

I have not purchased the book, but Dr. Brian Speer, a highly respected avian veterinarian, and co-author of the book The Large Macaws, published a new book on avian medicine last December.
