Leyland Cypress Wood

We have been considering making our own natural perches. We have an apple tree and a pear tree, which are small and wouldn't give us much to work with, but we also have plenty of Leyland cypress. I can't find any information on it anywhere, does anyone know if it is safe?

I have used cypress wood for perches however I cannot find any reference on line. Perhaps I read it in a book. Sorry I am not much help.
