I saw some lovely birds out at Hagerman National Wildlife refuge last Sunday.
It's located on Lake Texoma in Sherman, TX.
This little beauty is a Yellow-headed Blackbird. They were feasting on midges. I wish one of the blackbirds had come home with me because I sure brought home a lot of midges.
Herons and Egrets always make good subjects and this Great Blue Heron was no exception
This Little Blue Heron was just fabulous in it's breeding colors.
I was pretty excited to see the Eastern Bluebird on the fence with the much smaller sparrow. It was an interesting study in size differences between the two.
It's a Savannah Sparrow with something on its beak.
Last but not least, there were Dickcissals singing in the weeds. Many, many, many more singers than the few that were perching in the open.
All in all, it was a great day!
