Lucy broke a blood feather on her head. It broke clean with the scalp so no way to really pull it. It isnt bleeding terribly I put some cayene on it and it seems to have stopped kind bleeding. Do yall think she is fine to head off to bed or should I watch her for a bit. Blood feathers have just always made me really nervous so I would rather be safe then sorry.

Logan, hopefully a wise person will come along to advise you soon. Glad it's stopped bleeding :)

As long as she is not bleeding and she doesn't poke at it with her foot to make it bleed again it should be OK. Are you sure there is still a piece in there. If it came right out the follicle will close naturally.

No she isnt bleeding but she is molting so she is extra scratchy right now. And I am pretty positive there is still a piece in there the pin feather that came out was flat on the bottom and did not have the little tip on it.

That is what I was thinking it is just the blood feathers no matter how big always get me worried. It seems things always happen at night right before bed...the little goober anything to keep from going to bed.

Yep that is exactly how it goes. Her first blood feather happened once again right before bed and it was the night before I was leaving to go on vacation talk about bad timing...

I will update you in the morning before I go to work. I think all is well she is being her normal boisterous self and there is no bleeding at all now.

It is awesome to use I have had it in the first aid kit waiting for use sadly I have used most of it on me but this was Lucy first time with it and it worked really well it seemed like to me.
