I beleive he deserved it. Is it wrong to think that way? Since coming out of the cage Minty has been persistently mounting him, and I mean persistent. As soon as Jack chased him off Minty was on his back again.
Minty has dropped his tail feathers but not before Jack pinned him and gave a huge peck to his head.
Minty's okay. He came straight to me, which is strange in itself because normally he'd rather avoid me, and stepped straight up. I held him a while on my chest until he hid in the crook of my elbow. We've cleaned his wound which isn't too deep and he's resting in a towel lined box in a nice quiet corner so he can calm his breathing and get it together.
I'll have to split them now by adding the divider to the main cage. Jack and Misty are definitely bonded so Sprite will be going in with Minty.
We had bad hormones a couple of weeks ago, then they started their moult, and now we're all hormonal again.
Bird husbandry can be so frustrating at times, so far it's non stop intervention with these two guys.
Edit: We're off to the vet, Minty doesn't look good.
