Our parrotlet Xyla has been very moody lately when we go near her cage. I couldn't figure out why, she's always been territorial but never to this extent. Just today my husband and I noticed Xyla doing the regurgitation dance to the mirror, I think she's trying to court with her reflection. I don't want to remove the mirror because of how much she loves it but at the same time I don't want her to believe that it is her mate. Is there anyway to break them up slowly? Haha. But seriously I want to let her down easy. Suggestions?

Get her a mate. And practise birdy birth control should the need arise.

I had a tiel that only got grumpy when he had a mirror so I removed it and he was fine. A mate doesn't always work. I got him a girlfriend but he didn't like her. No fighting, just trying his best to stay away from her. I rehomed her and he was so happy after she left. Guess you can't pick out someone else's girlfriend
