I'm so sad...

My finch Fox passed away this afternoon. She was quite old, so it wasn't entirely unexpected, but it was still such a shock when I came in to check on her and she was on her way out...she was the sweetest finch I ever owned, she was hand tamed and loved to sit on my hand and hang out with me.
At least she is with her mate, Puffkin, who passed away a month or two ago

Finches can live anywhere from 4 to 10 years, generally. She was rehomed to us, so we don't know how old she was exactly, but I guessed between 4-7 years as always seemed pretty frail, not to mention any eggs she laid were infirtle and she got egg bound easily. She was on an all seed diet at her last home as well, so that probably didn't help things either.

I was in Pet Smart today getting a new cuttlebone for my budgies. There were three finches in those glass cages. I know nothing about finches. They look so fragile. I am so sorry she is gone and had a bad start in life. Thank you for taking care of her and loving her so much.
