Im freaking out!!! Well first things first. I have a olive IRN he/she should be about 3 going on 4 months I believe.
This is my first big bird, well technically he isnt big, but for me he is because I've only ever had Parakeets. Well anyways, he is starting his trouble making stage. Everyone has told me about it, the whole biting on everything stage. I don't mind, but right now im panicking, because he was biting on Aluminumm Foil in our kitchen.
I put it on top to cover, and my kitchen is pretty small and it's open, so there is no way I can like stop him from going there. Ill show you how I have the aluminum foil.
I might seem ignorant to the safety of my bird, in the sense of taking the action of what to do next.
But can someone give advice on what step to take next? What signs to look for?..I know the answer is bird specialist, but like meanwhile at home, while I get ready to take him.
The foil covered too.
What my Shilohs reaction to my panic.

If he ingested any of the aluminum you should consider contacting a vet to get some advice. Not sure how aluminum would affect a bird but there are aluminum cages for birds. Probably a good idea to remove the foil.

Remove that tin foil immediately! Just watch him closely, I don't think he ate it, but could have. Did you find tiny pieces of foil on the stovetop? If he acts odd in any way, get him checked out. By the way, the foil on that hood is a fire hazard sweetheart.

First...a deep breath.

Then....
Remove that tin foil immediately!
Monitor him/her, like @Birdbabe said, if something seems amiss, or you think he/she has ingested foil, get him/her to the vet ASAP. Is there pieces of foil on the stove? Most birds don't chew and ingest foreign material, like foil.

Remember, you control the bird's whereabouts, and the kitchen isn't a good place for birds to be for any reason, at any time...

Fire Hazard? How? if its on top only and it's not covering any vents. I've grown up all my life and have seen other people and family members do something similar. Also to the sides of the refrigerator when it's place is next to a stove. If it is a fire hazard then, oh oh.. thanks for telling me, I really appreciate it.

I called the local bird store where I purchased my Shiloh, the owner is a Avian specialist too. He told me the same thing as well, and explained to me about what needs to be done.

My Shiloh has been acting the same, constantly eating and being active like normally. But I took him in to be seen, which they told me to keep an eye on him, and that other than that he seems to be fine.

Yes there was pieces of it.

Well, we live in a 2 bedroom apartment, and he stays in the living room because it's much more spacious and the kitchen is open and connected closely to the living room. But after this He will be residing in our room.

When he was in the kitchen he just flew over there from our room because the door was open, I was in the restroom at the time so i wasn't able to stand up right away and get him. I usually take him with me if I leave the room I don't like leaving him in another room with no watchful eye near him. I'm a stay at home parent so, it's easy for me to keep a close eye on him.

His droppings look pretty good, too.

I don't keep him in his cage during the day, He just uses it to sleep. But im feeling that I am going to end up buying him a Macaw sized cage instead so he can do his shenanigans lol.

Thanks you for your responses.

Glad everything is fine with Shiloh!

It's really funny how some birds are attracted to the kitchen. Our tiels are always flying out there. We have to put a blanket up between the bird room (living room) and the kitchen to keep them out...it looks weird, but gets the job done...:)

Yes I am relieved for now lol.
It is funny, my Shiloh started flying to the kitchen when i started introducing him to foods, like fruits vegetable etc...

You can see what happens in the kitchen from the living room. So everytime we get something out of the refrigerator, there he is being nosey lol. So cute.

He gets mad at me whenever I don't give him, what he can't eat, it's so funny. But he's such a softy, he sometimes wants me to soothe him to sleep, I'll show you. My husband is kind of jealous because he flies more to me. I got him when he was about 6 weeks or a little less and he was being handfed for almost 3 weeks. I visited him everyday. He was so tiny.

Him sleeping:

Looks like you have a very special IRN there..one that seeks out scritches! :)

Our Titan was a typical IRN ...independent and not desirous of scritches of any type. He'd come and sit with you, and liked to meet people (he was our first birdie ambassador) but petting was not allowed.

We were so blessed to have Titan in our lives for 26 years...he passed away just this past February.

Please keep us updated as Shiloh grows up...and I love his name...:)

Yes, he is very cuddly. But he has a sassy attitude lol it's so funny.

Shiloh is starting to get this habit of going on my bed from the window sill, when he's in the room with me, because my bed is next to the window. He burrows in my neck or cheek and sleeps, it's so nice. But i need to train him, because then he's going to think that sleeping on me like that is the way to sleep for him.

We wanted one more child, but weren't able too, so then Shiloh came along. So when he does cuddly things like that, it melts my heart.

Awww. I'm so sorry, I can't imagine what you went through. I dont know what I would do. But it sounds like you guys had good times with Titan, so you get to keep those memories with you.

Yes definitely will.
Thank you.

This link doesn't specifically talk about rangehoods but you'll get the general idea from it Using Aluminum Foil on Range
