She's very pretty. Yellow shoulders can have blue on the head area and around the eyes. They are generally smaller than blue fronts and have a horn colored beak. Blue fronts have a black beak. They can be difficult to tell apart sometimes but as I noted the beak color and size are different. Do let the breeder know you are concerned about the foot and describe what you are seeing. It's good that you are able to get her into the vet tomorrow. Hope all will be well.

Loved the vet we went to today !! She did x-rays and found that our baby had a broken leg that had already healed . She said she had never seen anything like it before . The leg on the right that is a U shaped should be straight . IMG_3453.JPG

That's so sad :( What's the game plan if it's already heal? Will she ever be able use her leg? Grrrrr.. at the breeder

I am so glad you liked the vet :) I hoping she has a plan. Btw thanks for the update :)

Sorry that she has a foot/leg that was broken and didn't heal properly. My 'tiel Callisto has an improperly healed broken foot. She was found out and about and given to my vet who I adopted her from. My vet attempted to correct it but it didn't help---too late. Callisto gets along fine for the most part. Sometimes see her having difficulty moving off of her food dish or from one perch to the next and when she climbs up the cage bars she has difficulty getting down. She has a platform and flattish perches and her food and water dishes are placed low for easy access. I used to pad the bottom of the cage with towels but she's never fallen so I stopped doing that. Her cage has horizontal bars on the back and front but I want to replace that with an all horizontally barred cage.
What were the vet's recommendations?

I'm so sorry about her poor little leg! That must have really hurt! To be honest I'm a little relieved, even though this is super bad too. One of our chickens almost died. The first symptom was a foot that could not grip. Chickens walk a lot on the ground and can sleep sitting just fine, but she started to limp. We took her to our avian specialist and we were informed her kidneys were failing. One of the symptoms of failing kidneys in birds is that they have problems with their legs. I sure was hoping that wasn't it.

Did the vet say anything else? Is she otherwise healthy? What do you plan to do?

Aw poor thing! Well glad things are *fine* for the moment! She is so super cute. :) So many bad/uneducated breeders out there, very easy to make a mistake. It's not your fault.

Wow that's pretty insane! Poor baby, she is gorgeous and at least she has a safe home now!! Did the vet give you a prognosis or are you taking her to your vet to come up with a game plan?

@Clyounger6 That is terrible. That is a very, very serious break. Did the vet give you pain killers for the baby. I'm so sorry. That breeder had to have known that the bird's leg was broken, it would have swollen really badly and hurt like he!!

When you have time please tell us what you are going to do and if the rest of her vet checks came out ok.

I'm so sorry for you and for that beautiful bird.

Vet said since there's already regrowth of the bone that if the bird was hers she would leave it alone . She said she's not in pain from it now and that as long as we don't mind having a special needs bird she will be pretty normal . We're building a connected gym in her cage and outside and adding horizontal bars to help her climb . Any other ideas would be great !

I am glad you joined AA. There is much wisdom and support for you. I had a friend who was sold a conure with a incorrectly healed broken leg. He talked with other breeders in the area and found out the vet used by this birds breeder. Turns out the breeder was not respected for her shading dealings with customers and birds. He told the story to other people, vets and breeders. This person is no longer in the bird business. I tell you this as an example of what can happen.

I wish you all the luck with your beautiful baby.

We have dealt with her before and had no problems but I guess we got lucky . When I text her and told her what was going on she said she would take her back but would need to take $50 off of our refund for her trouble . It made me SO mad first no chance I'm giving her back to you and second either she lied about the problem or her vet is an idiot . I'm going to email her tonight and ask for the vet records and tell her I want her to pay for the vet visit today . Guess we will see how it goes from there .

So glad you are keeping her! That's wonderful that she will have a safe loving home with you.
Me too! It's so nice to know she'll have good loving home where she'll be loved the way she is. I hope you get some compensation from breeder

Thank you for not letting her have her back.

The poor little thing.... just thinking of that broken leg makes me heart sick. If the vet says she isn't in pain from it now though, at least that is known.

Whay did the vet think about her weight?
