Way too many discarded birds out there which truly breaks my heart.

Oh, man, even parrots that talk a little have so much attitude, imagine if they were able to use human language fully!!

I would say that any animal you get is a life long commitment.
They are our family members, and if you can't see it that way, then a animal is not for you.

So true! As difficult as Georgie Girl was at times, and as hectic as it was to move across the country THREE times, I never once considered re-homing the flock.

Yes, this image can be applied to all animals. However the long lifespan of a parrot unfortunately works against them in captivity for the reasons mentioned.

Nerd knew his brother and where they came from probably in the jungle, and me and my family for 31 years. He left us sitting on my arm looking up at me I miss him every day but am glad he was with me and part of my family till the end.

I gave this to Dr Tony today. There was emergency at the clinic, all hands on deck. I was there only to move 5rescues into the human side of the kitchen. The avian vets were up to their ducks in alligators. The 5 rescues are all healthy, thanking god. The only problem I had was moving a very nippy zon that was not happy about a change in scenery. We sat on the back porch after everything was done, Dr Tony pulled the image from my phone to his and will have enlarged and framed for the clinic.

I remember being very young when my mum found a sticker for her car that said something along the lines of "Pets are forever not just for Christmas"
I was too young to understand so I had it explained to me. I can remember thinking how very cruel and strange it is for people to bring animals into their lives then get rid of them.
I really like that picture and the saying and think there should be one like that for every type of animal that people can purchase/adopt/own.

There is about 40 pictures that we have in the avian side of the clinic, I rotate them every couple of months, also any new owner of feathered friend gets a booklet with alot care guides, pictures, healthy food guides, and tips and tricks. This is a great way of keeping the owners informed and preventing abandoned birds at the clinic.
