I have a blue & gold macaw in an apartment, but I lucked out with a very chill mac who very rarely screams. He's the extreme exception, though.

In addition to noise, I also think that the potential for damage makes it a really poor option, unless you're a very talented handyman.

Apartments also bring up the subject of space. I have a large duplex apartment, but an average small apartment probably wouldn't be nearly large enough for a bird as gigantic as a hy.
