Hummingbirds

Yesterday I set up a hummingbird feeder. I've been periodically looking out the window hoping to catch a glimpse of activity. Nothing yet.

Today, late in the afternoon, I was comparing notes with my boyfriend's mom and she hadn't seen any hummingbirds either. I said that I wasn't expecting to see any activity for a few weeks, but as we were finishing up our talk... a male hummingbird zipped by, took a quick sip, and flew off!

I hope he tells his buddies to come by. I love hummingbirds!

Thank you! We've seen them on occasion in the garden. I think it was two weeks ago that I saw a male feeding on a flower and a female that got within six inches of my face. She was investigating the house light (I guess it looked like a flower).

I think we're off to a good start. I cleaned out the feeder and after I came in and washed my hands, a green one showed up!

Boyfriend's mom said when she came in from some yardwork a bit ago she saw one as well. He had to sample from each flower. Different flavors I suppose!
