Well I am officially ready for spring/summer- put the hummingbird feeder out today. Still a little early, but it can't hurt.

We have six feeders hung, but we apparently have Anna's hummingbirds that winter over on the new property. Still trying to get photos of them.

I'm waiting to see if we have any different species here than the other side of the mountains.

We only have Ruby's here in PA, but they are fun to watch. When we were visiting family in Las Vegas we went hiking on Mt. Charleston. After the hike we ate lunch at the lodge and they had hummingbird feeders hung up on the outside patio. Wow what a variety of hummers! There was so many different types and too many individual birds to count.

The further north you get, the fewer species there are. Arizona has the largest number of confirmed hummingbird species in the US. And most of those are down on the southern border with Mexico. In Prescott, we had Anna's, Broadtails, Black-Chinned, Costa's, Calliopes, and Rufous. Mostly, you saw the Anna's, Black-Chinned and Rufous.
