Hi, I can´t stop wondering how "every" bird seemed to be just a couple of years old?? Is it because It´s new and exciting? Or is there not older birds out there??

How old are your too? Did you once have one, how old did he or she get?

I have two Goffin male, one is born 1997 and the other one, My Zorro´s age is not certain but I got him 1999 (I think) and he was very much like a teenager at that point....

Looking forward too here about your hopfully older too. :):D2:be2::cc2::heart:

I can't keep track of my own age so I am unsure. But Russell Peck Boogertoo is at least 10 yrs old (I think).

We adopted Elvis, and he had been through multiple homes prior. So we don't know his exact age. But he does have an import band- so he's wild caught. That would make him at least 26-27, but he could be older.

Maybe because Milton just seems more mature and Elvis is just a goof ball. LOL.
Milton- being raised by an older person-then coming to us- is probably used to being a bit less boisterous around people than a 'too raised by younger, more active people...not that Milty can't, and hasn't, given us a run for our money at times...:D

You notice how the Toos are in their 20's?
I think that is when North America started letting them be imported. That is when the breeding started big time.
I know in Canada it is that way. Really old Toos are wild caught.
This is just what I have gathered.
Lucky Lou was in her 40's but that was speculation.
My others are in their 20's

Keno is wild caught but Cody is domestic. She was bred in Southern California and I don't believe that breeder is in business any more. Importation into the US was halted in 1992. When did Canada halt importation?

They just let a guy bring in all his Toos from NZ, They are the pink types
I don'/t think its halted now.
He is setting up a jumbo breeding operation here on the West Coast of Canada
Canada is going to have a ton of Toos, we already have over 40 just in the local bird SHELTER, over 40 cockatoos! After WPR, we ended up with so so many rescues.

I do remember now that you posted that information. I'm very surprised that they would let him do that with so many 'toos in rescues and adoption facilities.

I've been picking my brain over this guy. He's a shrewd operator. The reason he's coming here is because of our toothless anemic laws. Parasite.

Both of mine are captive bred. Ariel is my greater sulfur crest. She is 18 and I've been her only home after getting her from a breeder. Cassie is my goffin's and I think 14 years old this year. I'm his 3rd home after being sold at a Petsmart. I had a cockatiel that lived well into his mid twenties and was captive bred. I have a captive bred female amazon that is 28 give or take a couple of years. She's been through a few homes before me. I have an age unknown, no history male amazon that is starting to get arthritic and really show his age this year. I'm thinking we need to do a vet check and maybe move him to a smaller cage with lower perches. I've had him for 15 years although I'm pretty sure he's the oldest bird in the house.
