How loud is your canary?

I had another question, how loud would you say your male canary sings? Would it be suitable for an apartment? I am deciding between finches or a canary but I was thinking maybe having a canary in an apartment would be too noisy. Does anyone have experience with this and could give me any advice?

I had 2 male border canaries, at different times, and they were amazing singers. They didn't sing all day but when they got going it was pretty loud. When I moved into my condo I didn't consider a canary because I was afraid it would be potentially too loud/constant for me, not being able to get away in closer quarters than my previous house. I gave some thought to getting a female, thinking it would be less of a singer. I'm not sure that a neighbor behind a wall would be bothered. I guess it depends on the soundproofing and your neighbors' temperament.

My aunt had a yellow canary for years. His name was Jerry and in the morning he would sing his little heart out, yes it could be loud, but never unpleasant.
