How long does it take for a canary to lay eggs?

I returned to the pet store that I purchased my canary in, and apparently they do house male and female canarys together from time to time (I was told no when I bought her.) How long would it take her to lay her eggs if she is "pregnant?"
I don't mind assisting her in this, I do love breeding animals and have been doing it all of my life.
I'm just not 100% sure that she is pregnant, as I've heard of female canarys who enjoy nesting all year round.

In my experience the hen will only mate once she finds makes a suitable nest and will proceed to lay eggs a few days after mating.

Still takes the same amount of time to lay the eggs I think. A few days if she is pregnant.
