Now that I've padded Java's entire cage and been applying medicine to his foot, Java has found another way to undo my efforts. He constantly hangs on the cage door and it has begun to irritate his foot again. I padded the side with fleece to stop him but he still did it, so now I'm stumped.
What can I do to eliminate the irritation on his foot?

Perhaps make a panel of knotted strips of fleece...
So he can grab and hold on to the soft fleece instead of metal.

Any idea how I would make this? I had some fleece woven between the bars, but he still found a way to rest his foot against the bars.

Also I also had the metal platform perch that you have and mine sloped down. I got Joey a large wood platform perch from TNT it stays level.
Perhaps he feels he needs to hold on because it is not level.
Sorry, I am not good with explaining myself.

Yeah, the one Java is on slopes down as well. I thought it was just how it was made, so I didn't think anything of it, but I notice, he sits on the very edge of it and constantly readjusts his footing.

Maybe braided fleece? It wouldn't require sewing.

That could work. I've looked at some vendors for platform perches and seeing which one would be more stable for him. Hopefully that'll eliminate him always holding onto the side. But more than likely, I'll pad that section with something to deter him from hanging onto it.
