Penny had some watery poops so held back on fruit.

Yesterday they were dryer but noticed she did not poop as often.

I saw only a am/pm reall large & then a few smaller.

Yesterdays evening

I changed the paper last night & she did not poop but she also did not make a am poop to close to 2pm!

Only poop today so far

I am worried!!!

I have a well bird appoint Monday with a cert avian vet who is not in til Saturday.

I really have no other certified avians & its getting late.

There is Dr Tamura who sees birds but not sure what she has today & it getting late.

Don;t want to have to go thru exams from another vet unless its an emergency.

Why would she hold the poop?

Don;t see any other signs of an egg or heavy breathing but she might be more quiet today???

It could be diet related. What is she eating if she's not eating the fruit?

The fruit has a lot of water so it makes them have to go more often. If she is eating something with more fiber, it may make her hold it more?

I was trying to firm it..LOL

Why hold it all night & til 2pm though.

She had some carrots.apple & a piece of orange yesterday. some hardboiled egg, tiny bit corn muffin in AM. She eats almond mostly & pumpkin seeds from her seed mix. I saw her eat a goldenfeast pellet. She drank water before bed.

Is she hormonal?

If I were you, I'd stop messing with her regular routine and just let the poop be what it is until you see the vet next week. Particularly since you've been told the watery poops are part of her known history.

Took the paper out & put that poop in a ziplock in frige. Then I noticed another smaller coin size but pretty high thick poop. Not sure how I missed it>????

New paper in there again so will monitor.

She was not interested in her fruit of corn muffin or hardboiled egg but goes right for the corn chip she loves...lil stinker

Is she eating her pellets?
I would give her a rest from the fruits and egg.
Also Sometimes Joey makes his morning delivery on the cage bars, it drips all over so I don’t see the hefty package.

I think you're contaminating your observations of her by stressing her out. If she's not doing anything that looks like it would warrant and emergency (and it doesn't sound like she is), try to just leave her be and I'll bet she'll go right back to normal.

I'm trying not too! I just need to know if it looks like something urgent.

She was plating with her bells, then preening, Now she is nibbling on her manu mineral block.

I don't want to stress out but I also don't want to miss any urgent signs or wait til it becomes a emergency after office hours as its hard enough to find a vet with bird experience..

She doesn;t really eat pellets. Her original owner said that. Her original owner said she poops wet too so its not abnormal for her as she had her 18 years.

The 2nd owner had her 2 plus years said she ate pellets then she told me she does not really eat pellets.

I had her about 5 weeks so I am just getting to know her.

I got her to eat a few by moistening them with juice.

I really don't know if she is eating enough but she has been pooping ok...

I guess this started 2 days ago when I have been watching closely or else it was & I never noticed as she always has so much shredded carrot on the floor its hard to see every poop.

I'm taking the paper out often so I can monitor.

The photos of those droppings don't look horrible to me. If you changed her diet that can change the frequency and consistency of her droppings.
If she senses you are stressed and upset that could affect her behavior.
As per watery droppings, she could be getting too much fruit, too many vegetables. Fruit and veggies = extra liquid.
Hope all is well with her.

I did give her a tiny piece of cheese!!!last night! She has had that in her diet.

Have to not do that until I figure this out as I guess that can constipate

My sennie's first morning poop is always "globby" like that, and has been throughout the entire 8mos since I adopted him. Also, he has had intermittent periods where his waste seems to be all liquid and little solids, regardless of whether I give him an all pellet diet to try to firm it up.

His gram stains and blood work have all been negative.

That sounds like a bird who's either hormonal or stressed.

She does do some head bobbing w maybe some tiny regurgitation.

Stressed she did not seem to be overly stressed the last 5 weeks but it is a new home.

2nd smaller poop before
june 7 2nd poop P1030904.jpg

She just made another good sized poop!!!!:bliss:
june 7 430pm poop P1030909.jpg
Just want to be aware of anything of concern. Orig owners said she only laid an egg once at around 5 years. Last owner said she never laid an egg so she is not a big egg layer luckily .

She has a vet appointment so she'll get checked out but want to make sure she is not in any immediate danger.

Will she eat cooked grains?
Or perhaps some Intune pellets? Joey likes those.
I think that her poop will look better when she transitions to pellets and fresh greens, less fruit. And offer some sweet potato, she might like it.

Have Intune too will try to mix that in. She will eat steel cut oats...

She may have heard her first owner of 18 years on the phone the other day. Was not on speaker phone but I was near her. She may just be in a funky depression wondering where she is whom she can trust

Sing to her. I think she likes it when you sing.
