help deciding... one or two?

I've owned birds in the past (finches to an African Grey) but currently don't have any birds. I'd like to get a cockatiel and since it's been so long since I've had one of those I've been doing a lot of reading and now I'm conflicted. I work so I am away from home 6-8 hrs a day and this was never an issue when I had my CAG, but I'm reading that cockatiels can't be left alone as a single bird and that I should get two. I'd like some advice so I can make the right decision if I should get one or two.

As long as they have a routine, being left 6-8 hours is no problem. Buddy just make sure you have toys, maybe the tv or radio for them...

I think it’s nice for them to have a bird friend. I don’t think it’s a have-to thing, but if you were alone a large part of the day wouldn’t you enjoy having someone to talk to?

I'd definitely have enough space for two cages. Thanks everyone, I'm waiting to hear back from a rescue. Fingers crossed everything works out and I can give a couple of them a forever home.
