It's great you have taken him to a vet.

I second the addition of adding some electrolytes, if you can't get a bird specific one where you are you can use gastrolyte from the chemist. Also adding some probiotics made for birds/animals would be very beneficial to help with digestion and boost the immune system. For some reason most vets don't prescribe it but it really can be life saving and help with a speedier recovery.
