Hi Everyone!
My name’s Tiare and I am a new Conure owner I’ve had parakeets, but this is the first time I’ve owned a Conure. My baby’s name is Jack. Initially I wasn’t interested in purchasing Jack from my local PetSmart. However, after seeing Jack weekly (because we are ALWAYS at our local PetSmart), I immediately fell in LOVE. Even in his little cage, he was such a happy bird and would always greet me and my family when we came in to “visit” him. We were taught a trick by the workers there, we’d lean up against his cage and no matter where he was he would race to you and lean up next to you. He would dance if you bobbed your head in front of him, he was just full of so much personality that we’d go to PetSmart just to see him. But, he was EXPENSIVE!! Being that he was so expensive, he sat in that cage from February 2014 until June 2014 . We were happy to see him every week but sad that he was stuck in that see through cage. Finally, on June 8th, we walked in (cash in hand) ready to “rescue” him My husband, kids and I all fell in Love with Jack and had named him weeks before we finally purchased him. We’ve had him for a week now and he is THE MOST affectionate pet I’ve ever had. I love him to pieces and I find myself researching conures every night on my computer. And my research has brought me here! I’m eager to learn more about him. I was told he was a Sun Conure but that he may have been mixed, the people at PetSmart were not sure. So I just call him a conure for now until we know for sure. As you can see by my profile picture, he’s a vibrant colored bird. Anyway, hope to learn more from all of you knowledgeable conure owners!!
