Hello! I am the proud pet parent of Charlie

I recently adopted my first parrotlet. Charlie is a rescue about 1-3 years old. In the past I've had other small birds (parakeets, lovebird, cockatiels). Charlie is so much fun and quite a character. He is a Pacific Parrotlet and is teaching me so much about these wonderful little creatures. He's partly tame and I am working with him daily. There is so much I don't know so any advice for a newbie is welcome. I had no idea about things like the neck wiggle. The first time I saw that, I thought he was choking on a piece of food. It took some time to get him to understand I only like him as a friend. (LOL). He also seems to be a little territorial when my boyfriend goes near his cage. He actually bit my boyfriend pretty hard one time. How should we handle situations like that? Ignore him when he acts up and don't interact with him until he's calm? Again, all advice welcome as I learn the ropes dealing with such a spunky personality. Thank you!

Welcome! I am glad you've found a reliable source of information. The biting behavior can be tricky.
Some people say totally ignore the bite and don’t make a big deal. The opposite advice is to tell the bird to not bite.

You might have experienced this before - displacement biting - so be careful when you have the bird out and boyfriend walks by.
