Hi, my name is Linda and I have a Quaker parrot named Jack we adopted about 8 months ago. He is now almost 2 years old. We live in Harpursville, NY.

I love my little guy. He is such a character but I think I spoiled him too much. He keeps trying to pick at my teeth and lick my tongue. I know I have read that they don't lick....but he most certainly does LOL. How do I curb him from wanting to put his beak and tongue in my mouth. :)

Yeah picking at your teeth and licking your tongue is definitely a habit you want break as bacteria found in our mouths can be harmful to birds. Hmmm... does he like foot toys? Maybe try and distract him with one when he want play with your mouth. It will probably take time and patience but if you keep at it you can break bad habits :)

Foot toys are just smaller toys that parrot play with their feet. Here's a link to one of our vendors foot toy selection to give you some examples

Welcome to AA. Jack is cute. It's good that you want to curb him from putting his beak in your mouth. That is not a good or healthy thing for our bird friends to do. If he tries to do that put him on a play stand/area or on/in his cage. Does he have a play stand, btw?

Welcome to you and Jack! :)

As has been said, you definitely don't want Jack "in" your mouth...you definitely have the power to stop such activity...don't let him near your face.
He is such a character but I think I spoiled him too much.
...there's no such thing as too much spoiling...and by the way, the birds call it "training their human"...;) :)

I bought Jack Some foot toys from lil monsters site as suggested. It took a couple days but he is just starting to play with them. Thank you so much for the suggestion. Yes, I do have a play stand for Jack. It is a rather cool one I ordered for him. Plus he has the play stand on top of his cage. He is spoiled rotten. LOL
