Spike, our 21-22 yr old tiel has a stuffy looking nostril and there is a weird sound coming I think is coming from there when she breathes. But she is breathing a bit faster than the other tieIs. only noticed a few hours ago.

She ate her dinner earlier and
drank water, and is perching right now. Can a stuffy nostril make her breathe heavy?

From what I remember:
Around 10:15PM Ate nutriberry. Ate rice with a little banana shortly after.

Around 11 something drank water.

12:45AM drank water.

12:47AM climbed up to a perch. Beak grinded a little. Rubbing beak on bars a few times every now and then. Eyes closed. Her head is not tucked in her back in the normal sleep position.

Before that she kept putting her head down asking for scritches. That was when we noticed the noise from her nose/beak.

Starting to think the noise is coming from her chest :( I really hope it isn't her heart making the weird sound. It's very hard to tell if it's the nose or not.

My dad took her to a 24hr dog/cat/exotic hospital around 3am and they got her setup in a warm enclosure, gave her oxygen and antibiotics.

She might have an infection in her lungs, poor bird :( They will be keeping her stable while we wait for the Avian/exotic only vet to open. Just an hour and 17 mins until they open..

When they get congestive heart failure, they can get fluid on the lungs as well and then infections. Hachi struggled with this the last year of her life.

We picked her up from the animal hospital and she ate a bunch of her pellets/seed/rice on the way to Avian vet. The weird sounds from her lungs weren't as loud and she wasn't breathing as heavily as before.

She's at the av vet now and they will call us after she gets looked at. We're doing cultures too while she's there...Spike is going to be demanding lots of scritches for making her go through all of this!
