I've had Kyoko for two years now! It's amazing how time flies! I still remember the phone call I got one morning.. as I was groggily answering my phone, my friend, Judy (the bird breeder I am good friends with) said:
Judy: "Guess what?"
Me: "... uhh... what?" (in a sleepy gravelly voice)
Judy: "Vivian doesn't have any blue Quakers.... but she does have two babies! One for you and one for me!"
And of course I hopped out of bed, drove to Judy's house, and then we drove the two hours to Vivians.
I honestly was NOT planning on getting a bird, but I love Quakers so much. My bird before Douglas was a Quaker that was my best friend, but had a heart attack and passed away
I was sort of teasing when I said I wanted one, but the fact that someone wanted to give me one really just sort of put it into play. Felt like fate. She knew about my Quaker's death and how much I loved him..
When I first saw Kyoko, she was a bundle of pin feathers and fluff. As soon as she put Kyoko and her brother into my hands I started crying. It was definitely fate.
Here she is after I took her and her brother home. (i didn't know which one I would pick yet) She was just three weeks old.
I had lots of hand-feeding experience before (i've raised a few clutches before for my breeder) so I wasn't too worried about that part. So don't worry! But just a disclaimer: I don't approve buying unweaned babies!
Anyways, I finally decided on the cute yellow one. And Kyoko came into my life for real. She grew up so fast before my eyes!
4 weeks.
5 weeks. *learning to perch*
6 weeks. (her favourite swing which she still sleeps in now!)
7 weeks.
10 weeks.
Flying (she flew much earlier, but these are better pics!)
She just became my little love-bug.
Who really loves her baths!
Now two years later.
She's still my baby girl <3
