Well actually I missed his gotcha! It was July 5 I’m not sure where my brain was.
Anyway I’ve had Ernie Pi 4 years and we will celebrate today and he won’t know the difference. He has gone from being cage bound and eating seed-only to being out of cage except for sleeping (his choice, he can climb a ladder to go back), eating EVERYTHING including my dinner, and being on my shoulder a minimum of 3 hours a day.
Amazing what you can do with a bird on your shoulder.
He used to be afraid of everything. Now he trusts that I will handle it. We have just finished a 9 month remodel and he never stressed out. I can “man handle him” and as long as I tell him what’s going on, he’s fine.
Flying is not his forte but just in the past month he wants to “fly to me” like some of the others do. I sit on a little stool about 5 feet from him and encourage it....he’s flown in my direction(or something like a rock flying) twice. Landing is another story but we’ll get there!
He also just started beak grinding this week.
I’m so happy I found him, and happy that he picked me. I never knew the deep bond you could have with a parrot. I love all my animals but the really deep relationship is with Ernie.
