Hi, I've never used these bird forums for advice before since there was not much to ask. Our caique was gentle, funny, kind, ate all his veggies like a champ, and his hormones had mellowed. He wasn't a biter, but could bite, if that makes sense (he would step up and play when he was in the mood to but other times he wanted to be alone). He got along with strangers and could be handled by different people. He was about 15 when he died suddenly. We are beside ourselves as we feel that's only half of the normal lifespan. He was healthy and seen by the vet regularly. We had him since he was a baby. He was our only pet. Has anyone else lost a caique and at what age? I am so gutted.

We never used teflon or scented candles and don't have any toxic plants or use toxic cleaning products.

So very sorry for your loss. Never had a Caique but I've lost birds at younger ages than that when they should have lived many more years.

Man that must be like a kick to the stomach.
I feel so stressed with just a seed lodged in my 'tiel's nare.
It will get better.
I Understand how you feel and it's okay to cry.
He's in a better place now (bird heaven) just know that!

I'm terribly sorry for the loss of your bird. It always leaves a hole in our hearts, whether their death is expected or not. The hole will never heal, but the pain will lessen and turn into more fond memories of your time with him.

Many, many of our forum members have lost a bird with no previous warning and sometimes it remains a mystery even after the bird has a necropsy.

Fly high and free little one.

I am so sorry for your loss.

We lost a budgie just a little while back...he was just 6 years old. The necropsy showed no real abnormalities...it just showed that he was about six years old.

Wings Forever High, little Caique...
